Auditions: Fiddler On The Roof
The Players Club of Swarthmore are holding open auditions (no experience necessary!) for the Main Stage production of Fiddler on the Roof on Tuesday, June 6th and Thursday, June 8th beginning at 6PM.

Auditions: Tuesday, June 6th and Thursday, June 8th beginning at 6PM (registration preferred)
Callbacks (by invite only): Sunday, June 11th from 1 to 5PM
Performance dates: September 8-10, 22-24, 28-30*
Where: Auditions, callbacks, rehearsals, and performances will be held at the Players Club of Swarthmore (614 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore, PA 19081).
(*There is a larger gap in performance dates as the production will take a week off in consideration of the Rosh Hashanah holiday.)

Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be held in-person at the Players Club of Swarthmore (614 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore, PA 19081). Plenty of off-street parking and accessible by Septa Regional Rail and Bus. Rehearsals are three evenings a week, beginning approximately June 18 with a full week of technical/dress rehearsals. Some of our rehearsal and performance spaces are only accessible by stairs. Please let us know if you need accommodations.

All roles are non-union and unpaid. The Players Club of Swarthmore is a community theater and actors are asked to participate in production activities. CONFLICTS
Please refrain from auditioning if you have any conflicts with tech week the last week of August and first week of September and/or show dates (see above).
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Actors are asked to sing 32 bars of a piece that highlights their vocal range. Songs from Fiddler are permitted. If an actor chooses a different selection, it should be a song in the style of the show.
Movement, dance, and script readings will be held by invitation at callbacks.

CASTING BREAKDOWN
Male presenting characters
Tevye is the humble but wise narrator and main character of the story.
Acting: VERY strong actor who must carry the show and have a strong connection to the audience. He is the heart and conscience of Fiddler on the Roof.
Movement: move well
Songs: Tradition, If I Were a Rich Man, Sabbath Prayer, To Life, Tevye’s Monologue, The Dream, Sunrise Sunset, Tevye’s Rebuttal, Do You Love Me?, Chava Sequence, Anatevka.
Motel is the meek and very poor village tailor.
Acting: Great character role needing someone who can show Motel’s sensitive, nervous but loveable character. Must have good comic timing and the ability to show vulnerability.
Movement: Moves well
Songs: Miracle of Miracles (solo), Tradition, Anatevka
Perchik is a visitor and outsider to Anatevka. He brings with him radical views that challenge traditions.
Acting: Strong acting skills. Actor must show intensity and an unfailing commitment to his radical beliefs.

Fyedka is a Russian soldier who falls in love with Chava, Tevye’s third oldest daughter.
Acting: Good actor who can use a Russian accent. Gentle with Chava but stands up to Tevye
Movement: Strong dancer preferable. Dances a Russian dance in “To Life”
Songs: May have short solo in “To Life”
Lazar Wolfe is the brawny and feisty butcher of Anatevka.
Acting: Strong, feisty actor with good comic skills.

The constable is a Russian military official stationed near Anatevka. Non-singing role.
Acting: Strong character role
The Rabbi is the Jewish spiritual leader. Small mostly acting role.
