Auditions: Annie

Players Club of Swarthmore will be holding auditions for the Main Stage production of Annie.
 

When:

  • Adults (18 & older): Sunday, August 18th and Wednesday, August 21nd 7:00-10:00PM.
    Open call, no appointment required, please fill out audition form (link below)
  • Children (6-12): Sunday, August 18th at 5:00-7:00PM.
  • Callbacks: Sunday, August 25th (Time TBA).
  • Audition Online Form: All who will audition will be asked to fill out an electronic audition form. You may pre-register using the link provided, or by filling it out at the audition. Please fill out the online audition form by clicking here.

 
Where: Players Club of Swarthmore (614 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore, PA 19081). Sign-in starts at 6:00 PM in the Lobby. Please enter through the front doors of the theater.
 
What do you need to prepare: Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show. Classic Broadway and songs from the show are encouraged. There will be a dance portion of the audition. All actors (Adults and Children) should be prepared to learn a routine and dance.
 
Rehearsals: M/W – 7:00-10:00 PM (6:00-8:30 for younger actors), Sunday – 4:00-7:00 PM (Rehearsals begin on September 16th)
Tech Week: November 17th – November 20th
Show Dates: November 22nd – December 7th (TH, F, Sa, Su) 10 Performances.

(No Show on Thanksgiving (11/28) 2 performances on Saturday, November 23rd.

Annie CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

The Players Club of Swarthmore is an all-volunteer organization. All roles are unpaid and Non-Equity.
 
Orphan Roles

Annie – A street-wise orphan; she is eventually taken in by Oliver Warbucks. Spunky, friendly, big-voiced, resilient, hopeful, and independent.

Molly – The littlest orphan girl; 7-9 years old

Kate – The next to littlest orphan girl; 7-9 years old

Tessie – The cry baby orphan girl; 10-12 years old

Pepper – The toughest orphan girl; 11-13 years old

July – The quietest orphan girl; 11-13 years old

Duffy – The oldest orphan girl; 13-15 years old

 
Adult Roles

Oliver Warbucks – A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish. Age: 30-55 (approx.)

  • Part size:Lead; Vocal range:Baritone; Vocal range top:Gb5; Vocal range bottom:B3

Grace Farrell – Faithful secretary to Mr. Oliver Warbucks. Poised, sweet, gentle. Age: 20-35 (approx.)

  • Part size:Lead; Vocal range:Soprano; Vocal range top:G5; Vocal range bottom:Bb3

Miss Hannigan – The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Disillusioned, bitter, and cold. Age: 30-45

  • Part size:Lead; Vocal range:Alto; Vocal range top:F5, Vocal range bottom:A3

Rooster – Miss Hannigan’s no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man. Age: 25-35

  • Part size:Supporting; Vocal range:Tenor; Vocal range top:G5; Vocal range bottom:B3

Lily – Rooster’s girlfriend, who is also out for a quick buck. Flighty and flirtatious. Age: 20-30

  • Part size:Supporting; Vocal range:Soprano; Vocal range top:G5; Vocal range bottom:B3
