Audition: Operation: Wawa Roadtrip

In the wake of their father’s death, siblings Lee & Joey embark on a road trip from Dayton to Philadelphia to carry out their father’s final wish of being scattered in a meaningful place – the Wawa parking lot. Driving on the turnpike at night, they meet a series of surreal characters who offer insight into their journey, while the brother & sister duo attempt to deal with their own grief and what the future of their family looks like.

Location:
Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be held in-person at the Players Club of Swarthmore (614 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore, PA 19081). Plenty of off-street parking and accessible by Septa Regional Rail and Bus. Rehearsals are three evenings a week, beginning approximately October 1 with a full week of technical/dress rehearsals. Some of our rehearsal and performance spaces are only accessible by stairs. Please let us know if you need accommodations.

Casting Breakdown:
Lee [Female, 20s-30s]
The overzealous big sister who starts the whole show in motion, She is very charismatic and outgoing. She struggles dealing with her father’s death and her relationship with her brother.
Joey [Male, 20s-30s]
Lee’s little brother. He is a nerd at heart and a little skittish when it comes to decision making. That’s why he leaves it up to the roll of a 20 -sided die. Overshadowed by his sister he is trying to forge his own way.
Various Ensemble
Charismatic and able to play multiple roles. Ability to do impersonations, dance, movement is all a plus but not required.
Audition Requirements:
Actors are asked to prepare a comedic monologue no longer than 2 minutes. This show will require actors to portray multiple characters as well as dance/move given certain roles. There will not be a dance audition. If called back we may request improv or movement.
