PCS mourns the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Leslie Miller, who gave decades of devoted service to our theater and was awarded Member Laureate status in 2019 in recognition of her extraordinary contributions.
From the moment Leslie joined PCS in 2002 as Production Assistant for And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, she became an integral part of nearly every season through 2018. Whether as production assistant, producer, or the face of our box office, she gave her time and talents generously. Behind the scenes, Leslie was a constant presence in the shop, lending her skills to set construction and making sure every detail, from the cut of a board to the polish of upholstery, met her high standards.
“Leslie was a valuable fixture here for decades, especially in the shop and the box office, and she will be missed,” shared Donna Dougherty, PCS President.
George Mulford remembered her orderly approach:
“She will be remembered as the lady who told you that three-foot boards go down here and four-foot boards go up there. Builders who had to find a dozen three-foot boards in a hurry appreciated how much her efforts contributed to theirs. As a proofreader she was unrivaled; the accuracy of many a PCS document was due to her exacting review.”
Jim Reese recalled their partnership in the shop:
“Leslie was proud of her ability to handle tools, radial arm saw, chop saw, table saw, and even brought her own drill/driver. We worked together on countless sets, focusing on the finer details. She always insisted on efficiency and precision, never settling for ‘good enough.’ Leslie loved PCS and the people she worked with there.”
Beyond PCS, Leslie worked as a software checker for PNC Bank, ensuring accuracy with the same care she brought to theater. She was also known for her vivid personality, her warmth as a collaborator, and her beloved Mazda Miata hardtop convertible, a fitting symbol of her spirited nature.
Leslie’s dedication, humor, and meticulous eye will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to work with her. Her legacy lives on in every performance, every set, and every friendship she built here at PCS.
