The Winter's Tale
The Winter’s Tale begins and ends with reunion, punctuating a story of grief and merriment with the idea that we as people have a stubborn tendency to find our way back to one another. When a jealous king accuses his innocent wife of infidelity, his delusions bring disastrous consequences. He has only one hope for redemption: the miraculous return of his exiled daughter. In this genre-blending romance, Shakespeare confronts the healing power of time. With tears in our eyes and full-bellied laughter, the play's journey asks us to consider how we love, how we forgive, and how we mend even the largest wounds.

For 115 years, this theater has been powered by the people of this community: the performers, the builders, the audiences, and the believers. On September 10, we celebrate all of it. Thanks to James' quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family. The dangerous voyage is a success, but the adventure takes a whole new twist once they land on the Empire State Building.

Galentine's Day: A Cabaret From The Mind of Katie VanNewkirk
Inspired by the spirit of Parks and Recreation's beloved Galentine's Day, this Broadway cabaret is a celebration of women, especially the remarkable women who have shaped and inspired Katie VanNewkirk's life. Through a mix of iconic Broadway favorites and hidden gems, the evening explores the many facets of the female experience: the joy of deep friendships, the journey toward self-discovery, frustrations with men, and the confidence that comes from knowing your worth. Featuring solos, duets, and ensemble numbers, this cabaret celebrates resilience, humor, empowerment, and the extraordinary strength found in women supporting one another. This warm-hearted musical tells the story of an imaginative little girl named Wanda and her unexpected bond with a fuzzy, purple monster as she learns acceptance and friendship. Based on the award-winning children’s book by Eileen Spinelli, Wanda’s Monster features music and lyrics by singer, songwriter, and superstar children’s recording artist Laurie Berkner, including fan favorites “Monster Boogie” and “Wanda, Whatcha Wanna Do?,” and a book by Barbara Zinn Krieger.

In this concert staging of [title of show], the PCS Second Stage is not just the venue, it is the entire world of the piece. The audience is invited into what feels like a real PCS event in progress, where five familiar theatre artists are gathering to share the “new musical” they have been developing together in this very room. From the moment patrons enter the space, the performers are in character, mingling and speaking about the work as if this is a one night only concert that they hope will be the first step toward a future beyond Swarthmore. [title of show] was originally produced on Broadway by Kevin McCollum, Jeffrey Seller, Roy Miller, Laura Camien, Kris Stewart, Vineyard Theatre and LAMS Productions at the Lyceum Theatre, where it opened on July 17, 2008.
