The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare
Directed by: Jim Ewald
Synopsis: Listed by Harold Bloom as one of Shakespeare’s great comedies, “The Merchant of Venice” examines universal themes which are alarmingly topical: in the struggle between showing mercy and following the law, which should prevail? Is the quality of mercy truly not strained?
The Millionairess by George Bernard Shaw
Directed by: Ellen Wilson Dilks
Synopsis: George Bernard Shaw’s witty and biting examination of wealth and the class system eschews pat answers. Are the wealthy better equipped to find happiness than the poor? Or are they just luckier? And how does wealth affect the search for love?
The Seagull by Anton Chekhov (Tom Stoppard’s translation)
Directed by: Thomas-Robert Irvin
Synopsis: Unrequited love. Artistic striving. Regret. Chekhov’s eternal themes and satiric exploration of human folly are given fresh life by Tom Stoppard’s vibrant translation.
